As you may have heard, Pantone just recently announced Marsala as their color of the year for 2015. I've seen some divided opinions on it, and admittedly it's quite a change from the last few years (Radiant Orchid in 2014, Emerald in 2013, and Tango in 2012) - it's much more subdued, for a start. I've heard it called boring, or muddy, and it's true that it's far less bright and bold.
I, however, absolutely adore Marsala. I've got a winter complexion, and Marsala is one of those earthy colors that suits me perfectly. Radiant Orchid, on the other hand, leaves me looking sickly and washed out.
One of the beautiful things about Marsala is that it works great in small doses. Just a single item can make an outfit look very on trend. Plus, Marsala's more subdued shade means you'll be able to wear it long after 2015 has come and gone.
