Whether you purchase traditional fine jewelry or fantastic art jewelry, keeping it looking it's best often requires certain care.
One of the easiest and most universal guidelines is: last on, first off. You should put on jewelry after all other preparations. If you use hairspray, makeup, lotions, perfumes, or any other products, these should be applied before you put your jewelry on. (This also includes rings, for those of you who never take them off!)
Any of the above mentioned products can leave a residue on your jewelry, and the chemicals in them can also damage some jewelry- this particularly applies to pearls, and the many organic components that might be found in art jewelry.
When you go to undress for the evening, you should remove all of your jewelry first as well.
