I Lay in the Tidal Pool

Finished the bracelet I started first!  I originally posted pictures of the felted form here, and the first very closely cropped photo of the embellishment was here.  About a million hours, thousands of beads, and three broken sewing needles later, I have finally finished!  (Also acquired: grievous finger wounds, courtesy of both ends of the sewing needles.)  I've decided to call it I Lay in the Tidal Pool.

I actually stayed up all night Monday night to finish it in time to mail it in for the Americas 2010 All Media postmark deadline.  It was a pretty exhausting thing, but I managed, which was completely awesome.  In the process, I opted not to add the silk ribbon I've been hoarding, because it's already a fairly busy piece.  (Although I might consider trying it out later, possibly, if it doesn't get selected for the show.)

I also took the time to retake pictures of the other bracelet in the series.  I'm still not quite happy with them yet, but I'm getting closer, I think.  I'm going to try taking pictures of it on a charcoal colored background, and see if that helps.  I'm also going to try actual colors, because I think the right color might really make these pieces pop.  I'd love to hear any comments or critiques you have on either piece!

  1. Wow ... that is a stunning piece!! Just beautiful! It is perfectly named, as well ... it embodies all the lovely elements of the ocean and reminds me of times investigating all the treasures of a tidal pool.

    Very nicely done! :)
